USER ACCOUNTS
A login name and password are required to post. Darkpost uses unified account for forum/vpn/email (No Google OAuth sorry, fuck Google!)
Nicknames are not unique. The @handle identifies the forum profile. Your login address is private. Your Darkpost account is shared with the mail and VPN portals. Mail and VPN access need separate approval.
Change your password in Account. The change also protects your mailbox encryption key and requires the old password. There is no forgotten-password recovery for encrypted mail. We do not control your passwords!
POSTING
Select an area and choose New post. Replies move a topic to the top of its area. A topic closes after 500 replies.
Messages are plain text. Begin a line with > for red text. Type >>123 to reference a message in the same topic. Click a post number to put that reference into your reply.
One PNG, JPG or WebP file may be attached to a message: 4 MiB maximum, up to 4096 x 4096 pixels. Files are resized to fit 1600 x 1600 and metadata is removed. Animation becomes a still image.
BOARD RULES
- No pedophilia, don't be mean and dicks, no bots.
- Keep messages in the appropriate area.
- This is free speech forum, offensive topics, offensive ideologies may be discussed here. This is not safe zone or echo chamber. Health of your feelings is not guaranteed here.
- Use Report to bring a message to the administrator's attention.
The system operator (sysop) can remove messages, lock or pin topics, and ban accounts.
PUBLIC ACCESS AND STORED DATA
Topics, replies, forum handles, nicknames and attachments are public. Do not post passwords or other secrets. This board is not private or end-to-end encrypted messaging (For that use ULTRA ENCRYPTED CHATROOMS WITH NO DATA RETENTION!.)
The app stores accounts, password hashes, messages, reports, uploads and keyed rate-limit counters. Raw IP addresses are not stored in its database. The web server and reverse proxy does NOT keep connection logs.
Removing a message hides it from public view. Database records, uploads and backups may retain the content. Administrators retain access to stored content. Reports are visible to administrators.
